BLOG POST 35: More Concern for the Kingdom of God

Travelling with a baby can be challenging, especially when visiting our hometown in India for festivals and family events. With a little one, we have to bring along extra stuff like a bath chair, high chair, toys, and books. Normally, we try to make things convenient by assuming we'll be staying for a while.

However, it gets tough because every time we visit, we have to do without these conveniences. On top of that, I recently started working, and it's hard to find a proper space with a table and chair to get my job done. I like being in a comfortable space where everything I need is available.

The problem is, we're not super wealthy, so we can't buy everything we need for every place we go. Also, there's not much storage space in our homes—both mine and my husband's are already full. We end up living out of our luggage bags, which is inconvenient, especially for longer stays. So, our rooms are always cluttered, and it can be a bit overwhelming.

In the first few days at home, I felt frustrated. I kept asking myself, "Why am I compelled to do things I don't want to? Why must I endure situations I dislike? Why am I surrounded by clutter when I really hate it?" Deep down, I sensed that God had a message for me, so I turned to the Bible.

I read Luke 12:15, "Watch out and guard yourselves from every kind of greed; because a person's true life is not made up of the things he owns, no matter how rich he may be."

I realized I was being greedy as I read the parable of the rich fool. He had a lot of good crops but didn't know where to store them, so he decided to build bigger barns. God called him a fool and asked, "If I take your life today, who will get all your belongings?" This made me think.

I'm giving to the poor, but I keep wanting more. Living God's way is about letting go when things don't go as planned. I'm thankful that God humbles me, giving me a blessed family and good health. The challenges I face are small compared to the blessings.

He taught me to live like the crows and the wildflowers.

Luke 12:24, "Look at the crows; they don't sow seeds or gather a harvest; they don't have storerooms or barns; God feeds them! You are worth so much more than birds!

Luke 12:28, "It is God who clothes the wild grass that is here today and gone tomorrow, burnt up in the oven. Won't he be all the more sure to clothe you? How little faith you have!"

Luke 12:29-30, "So don't be all upset, always concerned about what you will eat and drink. Your Father knows that you need these things."
